If talk therapy has left you feeling stuck, consider the reasons why. In traditional psychotherapy, you’re engaging mostly the conscious part of your mind. But most habits and emotional reactions that we develop are formed at the subconscious level. Therefore, it’s simply not enough to address these issues at the conscious level alone.
Hypnosis activates the subconscious; the area of the brain that is responsible for everything we do on auto pilot, including our most ingrained habits. It is an incredibly useful adjunct to talk therapy because it can help you get past unwanted blocks and limitations.
My approach is to combine psychotherapy and hypnosis so that you get the best possible results in the shortest amount of time. Every session is tailored to the client’s specific needs. The first part of the session is used for information gathering and coming to an agreement about what type of hypnotic suggestions will be most effective. In the second part of the session, I use the information gathered to create hypnotic suggestions that will help the client achieve the desired change. To maximize what the client experienced during the session, a recording of the session may be provided for the client to listen to at home. Repetition is an important part of learning and clients often like to listen to the recording as a way to solidify their new habits. Most of my clients report that the recording also helps them to relax and sleep more deeply at night.
