Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes.  Hypnosis is a natural state of mind.  Anyone can easily enter the
hypnotic state, provided that he/she wants to be hypnotized.

What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
Each person responds to hypnosis differently; however, you will most likely experience deep physical relaxation, mental calm and emotional euphoria.

Am I Asleep or Unconscious?
While the word “sleep” is often used during your session, you are not asleep or unconscious.  Unlike unconscious sleep, your mind will hear everything that is said, and you will be aware at all times

Is Hypnosis Mind Control?
On the contrary! The purpose of hypnotherapy is to help you achieve greater control over your own mind.  A person cannot be hypnotized unwillingly nor will a person follow directions against his or her own wishes when in trance. You continue to hear the therapist’s words but you will reject any ideas that are not in agreement with your own morals, ethics and welfare.

Does It Really Work?
A growing body of scientific research supports the efficacy of hypnosis in treating a variety of conditions.  American Health Magazine reported the following success rates from a comparison study of hypnotherapy versus other therapeutic methods:
  • Psychoanalysis: 38% improvement after 600 sessions
  • Behavioral Therapy: 72% improvement after 22 sessions
  • Hypnotherapy: 93% success after 6 sessions

How Many Sessions Does it Usually Take?
It varies from person to person, depending on the nature of the presenting issue and the motivation of the client to participate as requested.  Most clients achieve results in a few sessions (three to eight).

How Long Does A Session Last?
Most sessions are 55 minutes long. Some sessions are longer, depending on the presenting issue.

Are phone sessions available?
Sessions are available by phone and webcam.  Where possible, the optimal situation allows for your first visit to be in person, creating a comfort level for the following phone/webcam sessions.
