Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different than talk therapy?
Talk therapy is important. It is how the therapist gets to know her client so that she can determine the best treatment approach. But talk therapy alone is almost never enough to resolve deep seated issues. In order to achieve long lasting change, it is often necessary to explore information and patterns that exist outside of conscious awareness. Some common psychotherapeutic interventions that target the subconscious mind include hypnosis, brainspotting, EMDR, somatic therapies and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. Your session may include some of these interventions.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. Anyone can easily enter the hypnotic state, provided that he/she wants to be hypnotized. If you've ever become deeply absorbed in a book or movie, that is a form of hypnosis. If you've ever driven down the highway and missed your exit, that's highway hypnosis.
What does it feel like to be hypnotized?
Each person responds to hypnosis differently; however, you will most likely experience deep physical relaxation, mental calm and an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion.
Is Hypnosis Mind Control?
On the contrary! The purpose of hypnotherapy is to help you achieve greater control over your own mind. A person cannot be hypnotized unwillingly nor will a person follow directions against his or her own wishes when in trance. You continue to hear the therapist’s words but you will reject any ideas that are not in agreement with your own morals, ethics and welfare.
Does It Really Work?
A growing body of scientific research supports the efficacy of hypnosis in treating a variety of conditions. American Health Magazine reported the following success rates from a comparison study of hypnotherapy versus other therapeutic methods:
How Long Does A Session Last?
Most sessions are 50 minutes long. Some sessions are longer, depending on the presenting issue.
Are online sessions available?
Sessions are available by Zoom or other online platforms. Some people prefer to be in the comfort of their own home so they can fully relax and surrender without having to drive after. In-person sessions are also available in the San Fernando Valley area.
