About Melany
I have always been interested in the art of persuasive language. That’s probably why my first career was in the law. As a courtroom litigator, I worked on many cases that I was proud of, where I felt like my work really made a difference in people’s lives. But, on the whole, I felt very suffocated by my job. Unable to cope with the stress, I developed anxiety, insomnia and chronic pain. At the suggestion of a friend, I went to go see a hypnotherapist to deal with my symptoms. The few sessions I had with her completely changed the course of my life. I learned that the art of persuasive language can also be used to affect positive change in people’s lives. And I became determined to learn all that I could about hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
I went back to school and completed my Masters in Psychology. I also completed an extensive training program at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute. In 2017, I had the wonderful opportunity to become a Staff Therapist and Supervisor at the Pain Psychology Center. At PPC, I was trained in the most cutting edge therapies for chronic pain relief and have helped hundreds of patients completely reverse years of chronic symptoms.
While the body syndromes which I had developed early on during my lawyering days (back, neck and face pain) were in complete remission, I developed a resurgence of symptoms when my first son was born. I experienced a traumatic delivery and post-partum anxiety. After learning that my son was developmentally delayed, I felt tremendous pressure to help him catch up to his peers. With the birth of my second son, I experienced a new type of stress; juggling two kids plus career felt like a daunting task.
One night, while I was putting my 5-year old to bed, he complained that he couldn’t fall asleep. Drained from the day, my instinct was to gently dismiss him and insist that he was tired and should be able to fall asleep easily. Obviously that’s not what he needed. And so he proceeded to come out of his room five or six times, each time complaining of the same thing.
Agitated, I kept dismissing him. Until suddenly an idea came to mind- why not try hypnosis? Using persuasive language and hypnosis, which has served me so well in so many contexts, I helped my child quickly doze off into a sweet slumber. It felt amazing and empowering to be able to help him achieve comfort so quickly. I’ve been using hypnosis with my kids ever since. And it is my passion to help teach other parents these hypno-parenting skills so they can help their kids navigate life's challenges with more ease.
I can now honestly say that I love my work and I get so much joy from seeing others successfully tackle life stressors that were once thought insurmountable. I hope I can help you achieve the same freedom in your life.
